Allardayce met his brief, was given the chance to prove he was next moving us on and failed to impress. Simple as that. He showed that though he was once state of the art the game has moved on and his methods no longer suffice.
IMHO he has left us with a genuine top half best eleven but with back up that is bottom half if not relegation standard. It was interesting when Crystal Palace came here that they for example seemed to have a better bench set of players than us.
For me this is why playing in the EL represents a real risk of depleting our first string resources. Still, the owners absolute priority is staying in the Premiership.

Don’t have problem with Allardyce, glad he’s gone though, and the only mistake the owners made was this should have happened this time last year, Sam had done what was asked, but he wasn’t the right person to take us any further.
Better late than never and had he gone last summer would have seen far less cunting and abuse towards him.

and how did playing youth and disregarding older players work out for the manager?

Re: BFS in The Sun today...

Villa only looked to youth as their owner pulled the plug on the big spending which had them in the top 6. They sold off their best players and promoted youth and have been battling relegation for the last four seasons, narrowly escaped each time, so I'd say it has been a big risk.

Who has been better for us than BFS since Lyall.
Maybe Redknapp
Pards for one cup run after which came collapse Zola took us to the brink - survived on last day didn't we? Bonds was only ok Macari was not a great success Grant was a disaster, as was Roeder Curbishley not bad but a similar style to Allardyce
Otherwise what standard are we holding BFS to here?
Totally agree that is was time for him to go btw.

How many youth players did Villa bring through this season then?

Do we have to stay exactly on the same topic throughout the whole thread now Johnson?
That would be a WHO novelty.......

Why are either of you brining the happiness of Villa fans in to this?
Not a single person has tried to claim they are, franks point was they've introduced youth, which they have.
They also haven't been relegated and reached a cup final.
He said they played youth to counter the notion that playing youth is risky etc. that was it.

We bumped into plenty of Villa fans shitting it, in fact they tried to kick right off when someone dared to cheer Sunderland scoring.......
Retarded, West Mids cunts.

Shay Given probably takes care of that difference on his own.

Villa fans have been worried more than us this season. The only thing that kept them us was a quick Sherwood fix that won them just enough games coming in when he did.
Apart from that they were truly awful. I know a Villa fan pretty well and he wasn't a happy bunny at all.

Totally disagree mate.
A good manager fits in with the club and changes it for the better.
All's Allardyce did was have a system that barely worked.

The combined age of the Villa cup final team 276 years
The combined age of the West Ham team in their last game 267 years
Youthful that Villa side....
Personally I wouldn't swap being thrashed in a cup final and 17th for being safe by Christmas.

Re: BFS in The Sun today...

croe is just stating facts about Sam. Not every fan hated Sam and wanted him dead like someone said on here earlier.
We all have differing opinions on him. Some just say he is shit and always been shit, some lost faith a while back while others like myself felt he just lost his way towards the end. I don't think he was amazing for us but I think he did a decent job, got us up and kept us up then lost his way.
But what most of us seem to have in common now is getting behind the new gaffer. Let us hope he can build on what Sam did and push us to a new level.
